This album primarily features recent live tracks, with the exception of "Today's Been a Pretty Good Day," a song we recorded for an EP in December 2011. It's often hard to pinpoint an exact sound for the band, but hopefully these tracks show some of the variety to what we play.
The first song, "Gonna Be a Hermit," is taken from a live acoustic performance in Clarksville, TN. I picked an acoustic version because it's easier to hear the lyrics and gives a good sense of what zombie rock is supposed to sound like thematically.
The next two songs, "This Is Ours" and "Quarantine," are both from a show at Vanderbilt University, and they reflect two different sides to our music, which ranges from nice-sounding pop songs to much heavier rock songs.
"Welcome to the Safehouse" is taken from a performance at the Coup in Clarksville, TN. It's one of our most recent songs, and one that gets played fairly regularly at this point.
Finally, "Today's Been a Pretty Good Day" is a much lighter, more humorous song. It's probably our most popular song, primarily because of the surprisingly dark lyrics juxtaposed next to a simple, catchy pop melody. While I would hesitate to call ourselves a comedic band, some of our early success did come from playing humorous pop songs like this one, and we still try to incorporate at least a couple of those songs into our sets every now and then.
